February 1 :: The Louisiana Christian School will have early registration from February – March. Grades range from preschool – 12th grade with part time preschool also available.
February 1 – 4 :: CYT presents the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. Get your tickets today!
February 2 :: Mix it Up Lafayette makes Valentine’s cookies and chocolate strawberries Friday, February 2 from 4:00 – 5:00pm. Using fresh sugar cookie dough, your child will cut out heart shaped and round cookies. Kids will decorate their cookies with Valentine’s theme colors. Kids will also be making chocolate dipped strawberries! Suitable for ages 5-14.
February 2 & 17 :: Postpartum Support Group at Lafayette Moms and Babies from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. FREE postpartum support group for mothers. Need to talk about the stresses of motherhood or just be around other women that are also raising little ones? Come join us!
February 3 :: Saturday Craw Baby classes will begin soon at Crawfish Aquatics! Online Registration is required. Classes are held in our indoor, heated pool. Adult and Baby can enjoy time together, while learning new and useful water skills! Babies 6 months to 2 years are invited to sign up! Multiple sessions are available.
February 3 :: Krewe of Carnivale en Rio Mardi Gras Parade in Lafayette will begin at 6:30pm. The Parade of the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio has become the premier Mardi Gras event in Acadiana. The Parada has become known for its colorful floats, dazzling lights and dancers and the huge amount of beads, throws and custom maracas we shower on the faithful parade-goers.

February 4 :: The Mulberry Tree presents to you a Valentine’s tea for both adults and children. This is a great event for you to share with your children, grandchildren and friends, creating a new holiday tradition!
February 4 :: Courir du Mardi Gras at Vermilionville from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Vermilionville brings the traditional, country Mardi Gras run to the city during their annual Courir de Mardi Gras in conjunction with the Basile Mardi Gras Association. Bring a bag of Mardi Gras beads to donate and receive $1 off the cost of admission. Admission for the Courir de Mardi Gras is $5 (members pay $4). There is no charge for children under 3.
February 6 :: Registration for LASOAR’s Youth Fishing Class which will take place from February 10 – March 10 ends on February 6. On-shore fishing class teaching basic angling techniques and environmental stewardship to promote fishing as an alternative lifelong recreational activity. Other class elements include fish identification and water safety. For boys and girls ages 4-18 + parents. ALL EQUIPMENT, BAIT, AND TACKLE IS PROVIDED!
February 6 :: They Heymann Performing Arts Center and Broadway in Lafayette presents The Wizard of Oz at 7:30 pm. There truly is no place like home as the greatest family musical of all time, the wonderful WIZARD OF OZ, twists its way into Lafayette! The entire family will be captivated as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in this lavish production, featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs. February 7 :: Toddler Time at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum – 10:00am – 11:00am – Parents and their children will enjoy story time, songs with finger play, participate in a hands-on art project, and may explore the museum after the program. This event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of Quest Pediatrics Dentistry.
February 9 :: Mardi Gras at Jump Zone – Bring out your kids ages 7- 12 for Mardi Gras Madness at Jump Zone!! COST IS $10 at the Door. The event starts at 7:30 and you can pick up kids at 10:30 (Parents must check kids in at the counter!). Proceeds support New Day Community Outreach’s Prom Dress Giveaway, Homecoming Dress Giveaway, Elderly and Youth events, care packages, and more 2018 outreach efforts!
February 9 :: Join the Family Tree at Chipotle for Family Date Night! Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support The Family Tree. Bring in the flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause (The Family Tree) to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to The Family Tree.
February 10 :: the 2018 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade will take place Saturday, February 10 starting at 11:00am. The parade will start and end at the Youngsville Sports Complex on Savoy Road.
February 10 :: the Children’s Parade in Lafayette will begin at 12:30pm and roll from Downtown Lafayette to Cajun Field.
February 11 :: Alycat’s Valentine’s Adventure presented by Whole Foods Market, Join us at Whole Foods Market for Alycat’s Valentine’s Adventure, featuring award-winning author of The Alycat Series, Alysson Foti Bourque 1:00-3:00pm. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with hours of fun for the whole family! This FREE event will include: Storytime by Alysson Foti Bourque, Author of The Alycat Series , Sweet treats with Carmichael’s Honey LLC, Scavenger Hunt and fun giveaways by Lafayette Moms Blog , Fun activities provided by The Little Gym of Lafayette, Love songs provided by local talents!, Photo Booth opportunities by Rachel L. Blanchard Photography, and Special Appearance by Alycat herself! This is a free event provided by Whole Foods Market, but it requires an RSVP.
February 11 :: Enjoy a Jazz Dinner hosted by Zuhause Bakery & Coffee! Have a relaxing evening with great food & great company! The evening will consist of a 4-course dinner (appetizer, salad, entree, dessert) with beverages included during the meal & our signature house-brew coffee served with dessert. There will be a live jazz band to entertain diners throughout the evening. Tickets are limited and are available to first-come-first-served individuals/groups.
February 13 :: 10th Annual Family Friendly Mardi Gras hosted by the 705 will take place on Mardi Gras Day in Parc Putnam from 9:00am – 4:00pm. The705 is partnering with The Knowledge Effect to host downtown Lafayette’s 10th Annual Family Friendly Mardi Gras! Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and healthy environment that will allow families to enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities in an alcohol- and tobacco-free atmosphere. This is a FREE event and is family-friendly, so bring the kids along! There will be games, prizes, music & free food for the volunteers. You won’t want to miss it!
February 14 :: Parent and Child Cooking with Little Valentine class at Mix it Up Lafayette from 2:00-3:30pm. This is the day after Mardi Gras so kids are out of school. The menu includes Valentine’s cake pops white chocolate cherry shortbread cookies and pink lemonade will be served. This parent/child class is suitable for ages 4 and up.
February 14 :: Valentine’s Murder Mystery at Esprit de Coeur – On Wednesday, February 14, patrons will be participating in solving a murder over the course of an amorous inspired dinner. Clues will be given and suspects will speak on their behalf as you and your investigative team work together to solve whodunit. A tantalizing prize package awaits our top sleuths of the evening.
February 15 :: Poke’ Party with Good Eats Kitchen at Top’s Appliances from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Poke’ Bowl Wednesday comes to life at Top’s on Thursday, February 15th! February 17 :: A princess at Heart: A Royal Tea Benefiting the Congenital Heart Foundation will take place Saturday, February 17 from 9:00 am- 11:00 am at Esprit de Coeur. A Princess at Heart is an interactive experience geared toward pre-school and elementary-aged children and their families. At the tea, guests enjoy sweets and finger foods while interacting with six popular princesses, Miss Louisiana, and Mrs. Louisiana. Children participate in arts and crafts, photo opportunities, and modeling lessons alongside of their favorite princess characters. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras and dress in their favorite princess ball gowns.
February 17 :: My Furry Valentine hosted by the Tap Room from 2:00 – 5:00pm. There will be a Tapas & Tito’s Handmade Vodka specials and proceeds will benefit the Acadiana Animal Ai. Look forward to complimentary puppy pedicures by Paws & Paw Paws and complimentary dog treats from Lafayette veterinary care. Pups are welcome on our patio! 🙂
February 17 :: ArtWalk in Downtown Lafayette will take place on the third Saturday of February from 6:00 – 9:00pm due to the Mardi Gras Festivities the weekend prior. Take a stroll around Downtown Saturday to enjoy the local culture through fascinating exhibits full of history, expression and talent from art collections to original paintings, jewelry, glasswork and textiles.
February 18 :: A Baker’s Choice hosts a beginners cake class from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. This class is for the students who have never touched a spatula or the student who would like to brush up on their skills. Learn how to tort and level cake layers. Fill layers properly. Crumb coating and icing a cake perfectly smooth with American Buttercream. You will also decorate your perfect canvas with simple yet beautiful buttercream borders, roses and writing.

February 24 :: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Pink out the Pond, with Komen Acadiana will gear up for its 19th Annual Race for the Cure and Family Fun Day!
Susan G. Komen® Acadiana has officially kicked off Race registration and is gearing up for its 19th Annual Susan G. Komen Acadiana Race for the Cure®. Once again, Komen Acadiana will be “Pinking out the Pond.” On February 24, 2018, Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville will welcome a wave of pink runners, all joining together to raise funds for local community grants and lifesaving research to one day bring an end to breast cancer, forever. The events all begin at 2:00pm.

February 2, 3, & 17 :: The Learning Train’s Open Play time schedules will allow for parents and children to simply play in a safe and caring environment. The equipment and activities are appropriate for children 6 months – 5 years old. Call or message to reserve a space. There is no membership required; 9:30 – 11:30am.
Second and Fourth Saturday Monthly :: Catholic High Stop Motion Animation Camp – Stop motion animation is the animation of objects such as clay, toys, or legos with sounds and music. Mr. David Wattigny is offering a Stop Motion Animation Camp for any interested students on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 9AM until 11AM. While hosted at Catholic High, all area school-age students aged 9 and up are welcome to attend.
